Frenectomies

A “frenum” is a structure in the mouth where a small fold of tissue pulls on the gums, causing gum recession or even tooth movement.

We perform “laser frenectomies” where this tissue pull is released to assist in preventing gum recession. By using the laser to perform this procedure, we minimize any discomfort or bleeding. There is no need for sutures and healing occurs quickly. This procedure can prevent the need for more invasive surgical procedures. In children, frenectomies may be performed to help close large gaps between the front teeth, and to release “tongue ties”.
