At our office we follow the “ALARA” principle for taking x-rays.

This stands for “As Low As Reasonably Achievable”. The CDC website states “ALARA means avoiding exposure to radiation that does not have a direct benefit to you, even if the dose            is small.” You can feel confident knowing that we have the most up-to date digital technology which means any x-rays we take are low dose and safe. By following the “ALARA” principle, this means we only take x-rays that we absolutely need to be able to properly diagnose and treat disease. For most of our patients this means taking one set of cavity x-rays per year, and one panoramic x-ray every 5 years.
